This headless robot, nicknamed the 'Cheetah Bot' has broken the world record for being the fastest robot with legs, reaching up to 18 mph! Developed by Boston Dynamics with funding from the US
military's Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, this four legged wonder was created for a program
aimed at achieving theoretical and experimental advances in the science of
robotics. The Cheetah shattered the record set in 1989 when a two legged robot at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology ran at
a speed of just over 13mph. The director of the project, Dr Alfred Rizzi, states that they are not yet finished with the project as their ultimate goal is to reach a much higher speed and to even get it to be able to run in rough terrains.
To be honest, I think that this is awesome! Robots are cool altogether, but this one just seems to stick out from the crowd.
